When was the 4th of July declared a federal holiday?

July 4th was not declared an official federal holiday until 1941. Before then the 4th of July was still celebrated around the country but in a less official capacity. Once July 4th was named a federal holiday, more people than ever started using fireworks as a part of their Independence Day celebrations.

My little angel is 3 years old today! My how time flies! Here is a picture of him before I took him to daycare this AM. I made cupcakes, so he will get to have a little celebration at school this afternoon.

If you were looking for a new bed spread (full size) for a 3 yr old boy, where would you look? I can't find anything that isn't real expensive.
